Jessie Nhut-Suong Cu immigrated to Canada in 2019 under the Federal Skilled Worker Program and joined VWAT as an Employment Counsellor two years later. Holding a Master’s Degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from Vietnam National University, she boasts nearly 10 years of experience as a university lecturer in her home country, teaching the following courses to Business English majors: Academic English, Translation Theories, and Interpreting Practice.
At VWAT, Jessie assists clients in securing employment, drawing from not only her professional expertise but also her personal experience navigating the challenges faced by new immigrants. As a newcomer herself, Jessie brings a unique perspective and empathy to her work. Jessie has engaged in other diverse endeavors in Canada, such as freelancing as a Vietnamese/English interpreter and serving as a certified Food Safety Trainer affiliated with TrainCan Inc. This reputable training company offers accredited courses endorsed by Health Canada, CFIA, the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, and Toronto Public Health.
