On January 25, 2025, our community came together to celebrate the Lunar New Year with a vibrant and heartfelt gathering. The event was filled with cultural performances, meaningful reflections, and opportunities to connect with one another.
The festivities began with an energetic lion dance, bringing good fortune and joy to all in attendance. Beautiful singing performances and powerful poetry readings highlighted the talent and heritage of our community, reminding us of the strength and resilience that define us.
This year’s celebration also held special significance as we marked the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War. The Liberty Coins, commemorating this milestone, were introduced and sold at the event as symbols of remembrance, freedom, and the enduring spirit of our people.
No Lunar New Year celebration would be complete without delicious food! A tremendous amount of effort went into preparing and packaging each meal so that every guest could enjoy a warm and thoughtfully prepared dish. Volunteers worked tirelessly behind the scenes, ensuring that everyone had a chance to share in the joy of traditional flavors. More than just a meal, sharing food was a way to foster connection and strengthen the bonds within our community.
As we welcome the Year of the Snake, we reflect on the past with gratitude and look forward with hope. This celebration was a beautiful reminder of our cultural heritage, our resilience, and the importance of coming together as a community.
The Board of Directors of the Vietnamese Women’s Association of Toronto extended heartfelt thanks to all the staff, volunteers and community members who contributed significantly to the success of the 2025 Lunar New Year event.
Thank you to everyone who joined us—may this new year bring you prosperity, happiness, and good health!
